Custom Furniture: Designer Series

To celebrate our new furniture program, we’ve partnered with 30 designers to prove just how easy designing custom furniture is at Robert Allen. Choosing from a wide array of fabrics, finishes and embellishments, each designer was tasked with customizing a specific chair or sofa to their liking. The end result is 30 unique pieces designed with superior craftsmanship, easy customization and a simple ordering process.

To learn more about our robust furniture program or to view select pieces below, we invite you to visit a showroom near you. Each item will also be available through a nationwide online auction beginning November 2 with all proceeds benefiting Dwell with Dignity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to designing inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty.

Bill Musso

"In designing my version of the Robert Allen sofa, I chose to embrace a classic Hollywood inspired color palette…grey, silver with touches of indigo. The sumptuous use of mohair, velvet and wool reinforce the luxe aspects. I envision a modern day Carole Lombard or Cary Grant casually draped over one arm."

Plush Mohair and Hudson Boucle, mixed with the very chic and artistically inspired Provocation accent textile, meld seamlessly together to create a fashion-forward variation of the traditional “tuxedo-style” sofa; together these aesthetics effortlessly represent the progressive design direction at Robert Allen."

Tracy Martin Taylor for Eleven11 Design

"We’ve recently completed some projects with marble and limestone as the focus of each space. In a floor to ceiling application, the natural beauty of the marble is stunning. When I discovered the Medici Marble Ink print I fell in love. It has that gorgeous movement you see in the veins of marble and the waves of the ocean. Organic, chic and glamorous. This piece can be the center of the room."

"When I first saw the Renee chair I was to customize for Robert Allen and dwell With dignity, I was immediately drawn to its masculine, clean lines, and felt a strong desire to soften its appearance and infuse my own design style. Blending the chair's masculine frame with a luxurious blush-colored fabric, I was able to create a classic, timeless look with a touch of glamour that beckons you to sit, relax and stay awhile. Diffusing the line between masculine and feminine, it is a chair that could easily go from bedroom to living room and everywhere in between."

"We were inspired by the texture and life of the Ankasa appliqué and wanted to use it to create a grand effect *a statement* so we elected to piece the upholstery to create the chair's outer envelope. The result is romantic and special. Using the Luxe Alpaca on the interior allows the chair's already elegant lines to shine. This piece could go anywhere, either as the star or as a supporting player."

Sroka Sroka

Skip Sroka for Sroka Design

"This was exciting to be given a chair and endow it with great personality, as my work usually has to fit together as a whole and not be a standalone object. The Rue Royale Coral fabric provided an opportunity to showcase a incredible color with the simple light texture of the Pearl Outdoor Boucle which plays into the look of the embroidery on the fabric. This over scale pattern was able to be fitted on this chair in a way that looks very custom and still play up both the pattern of the fabric as well as its relationship to the proportions of the chair."

"Inspired by my last visit to Paris where the black and white story (my all-time favorite palette) was everywhere. The Liz sofa with her sleek modern lines is dramatic and sophisticated; wearing Beacon Hill Inner Weave in black and white with Black wool Sateen contrast welt. She screamed for some Beacon Hill Cheetah Velvet pillows with a reverse surprise of Robert Allen Exquisite Limoncello pillows for a dramatic surprise."

Marlaina Teich Designs

"The Liz sofa has great lines and great legs. It’s sophisticated – with narrow arms and a modern bench seat cushion – and the loose pillow back cushions invite lounging. Inspired by the Runway, I wanted the sofa to be fashionable, flirty and fun. I clothed the sofa in Robert Allen’s Exquisite in Rare Orchid and added accent pillows in Beacon Hill’s Blossom Frame Chartreuse. By accessorizing the pillows in Jeweled Cord Zest and accentuating the frame with a Leather Cord welt in gold, I further stylized the Liz. Completing my “look” are legs in a painted white finish."
