Nomadic Color Collection
Rich. Sumptuous. Confident.
Our intrepid new collection brings home the colors, moods and textures of nomadic cultures. From the Atlas Mountains of Morocco to the Tibetan plateau and the prairies of the Great Plains, the spirit of the nomad is embodied in a pure palette of rich pigments. Rooted in Onyx, Carob, Denim and Cement, it’s a color story that draws from artisanal wares and traditional dress found amid these sparse locales. Contrasting black and ivory tones echo the carpets and shawls crafted by Berber tribes, deep, lush brown is a nod to the coveted baskets woven by the Zulu, sunwashed blues evoke fabrics soaked in dyes extracted from the centuries-old indigo plant and soft greys layer in the soothing, muted hues of ceremonial clay pottery. From the geometric Kuba cloth motifs to the nubby knotting and touches of sequins and shine, the patterns and textures in this collection together create a truly transporting experience.

Onyx upholstery
Ancient yet contemporary, classic yet on-trend, our inky black is inspired by the shawls and wool rugs hand-knotted by the Berber tribes of North Africa. Paired with soft ivory or carob, this essential hue takes on an utterly chic and elevated feel.

Carob upholstery
Rich and warming, our concentrated brown spans from deep espresso to luminous cognac. Found in traditional goods handcrafted by the Zulu and Fulani tribes of sub-Saharan Africa, this au courant color stems from the artisan heritage of African basket weaving.

Denim upholstery
An ode to ancient dyeing techniques and life on the prairie, our faded blues are directly influenced by denim fabrics made using the natural color extracted from indigo plants. Javanese batiks and Japanese Shibori textiles all rely on this universal dye that adds timeless color to any room.

Cement upholstery
Balanced yet weighty, subtle yet obvious, our easy grey is an omnipresent color in nomadic life. Recalling the opaque clay beads of South Africa and the pottery of the Southwest, this organic hue also appears throughout urban concrete landscapes thereby adding a thoroughly modern vibe to any space.

Onyx / Carob / Ivory multi-purpose
Robert Allen launches Onyx-Carob-Ivory, new Color Library Multi-Purpose collection that serves as a companion to Onyx and Carob in Color Library Upholstery: Nomadic Color. The warm and bold neutrals exude a refined modern style with nomadic spirit with its fringe, batik-inspired prints and patchwork designs.

Moss / Cement / Denim multi-purpose
Robert Allen celebrates the effortless warm tones in Moss- Cement-Denim, a new Color Library Multi-Purpose collection that ties Enchanting Color and Nomadic Color together. The soft hue Moss coordinates naturally with Nomadic Color’s Cement, a mid-tone ash, and Denim, stonewashed indigo blue. Patterns incorporate rug patterns, organic geometrics, found in traditional wall hangings, kilim rugs and ceramic ware created by nomadic tribes around the world.
